A trip to Suzdal
A trip from Moscow to Suzdal and back takes about 10 hours altogether. Suzdal is an old, small and calm Russian town, which lies 38 km from Vladimir ( 220 km from Moscow) and is one of wonders on the Golden ring route. It was mentioned in historical chronicles in 1024, for centuries was kept from industrial development and has consequently preserved the ancient lay-out and fantastic panoramic views.
Today the town is an outstanding “museum in the open air”, containing more examples of architectural monuments than any other Russian town. Within a small area there are four monasteries and several dozens of Russian Orthodox churches built in different times in different styles. Among its attractions is the Kremlin surrounded by ancient ramparts, magnificent complex of the Monastery of Our Savior and St. Euthimius, the Convent of the Intercession of Our Lady and the Museum of Wooden Architecture and peasant life. The trip includes visiting 5 local museums.
